Mirror vs. Camera?

I know that the majority of people feel that they look better in the mirror than in a photography by a camera....there is also the aspect of self esteem,type of camera,angles,lighting etc...but in the bottom end what do you think it's the most reliable source of what you look like,a photography of yourself or your image in the mirror?
