If its still under warranty, and Sony cant fix it they should replace it.

It's not. I got it the day it came out, so it's well out of warranty now.
They said they could offer me a reconditioned one for £130, but I don't know whether it would just be better to get a brand new one.

Seems like the your PS3 lasted a long time before you had a problem out of it. I stood out in the snow for 15 hours to get my 360 when it first came out and it broke within a few months.

I hope you get a new one soon though, we could all meet up sometime on PSN.

Nah, Id buy a new one if i was you. All it seems like your doing is paying for it to get fixed, when you can pay not much more and get a brand new slim one.
