software to play mp4?
I was wondering...
I have a Sony Ericsson w580i.
It'll only play 3gp video files.
I was wondering, is there something I can put on my phone, so that I can also play mp4 video files?

No it can't, otherwise I wouldn't be asking for help
I've had them on my phone, and it does even show the option "play".

Well, there different video and audio codecs for mp4, all may not work on SE... try using super encoder or other as seen here

i think the video codec you can use on super for your w580 are h264 and mpeg4, size 320x240, bitrate about 288, sound maybe 64kbps, mononone

Thanks, I'll try SUPER.
I've tried everything else so far, and nothing worked :s
It's filmed with a PDA (HTC p3600) and also, I can't seem to find a program that could be installed on the PDA itself to convert it to anything else.
*edit*
Could it be the files damaged? But it still plays on my friend's PDA, so it can only be playable on the same PDA which you recorded it with? (sounds dumb, lol)
Maybe this picture can help?
Maybe I checked something wrong to convert it...
Can't insert picture yet :s maybe through pm someone can help? :sLast edited by moorhunhe; 20-06-2009 at 12:37 PM.

there's also KD player but before using it after installation you should set up permissions for reading and writing data
also there are lots of skins for it it's actually really cool
I'll check which JP has your SE to see if your phone supports it's equalizer in app
Edit:Your phone doesn't support it's equalizer but still it will run the application

Hmm, yeah, so I'm really thinking now, that only his PDA can actually play them, and nothing else.
It's mp4 / H.264
I've had them on my phone and nothing.
I've tried like over 20 programs / converters to play/convert it, and absolutely nothing worked :s
Guess I'm out of luck then.

I think only the mpeg-4 codec works on w580 but not sure,
maybe try a video in my movie thread in videos there all mpeg-4 codec.
