I own a SLVR L71. before, it can barely get to a hundred messages.
I'm not sure if it's the same for your phone but perhaps you could just try what I did...

Go to messages menu > options > message setup > Auto cleanup. You can set it like a month or two of you like. Then you'll see that your message memory will increase.

tell me if it works ok...

Do you have the option "Custom".? If you do, enter that and then you'll see two bars. One for numbers and another for msgs or days. If you want a month. set the numbers for about 31 and the other bar set to days. It can reach up to a maximum of 99 days.

Well, the only way (I think) to find out that your messages memory has increased is to try and see if your messages reach over a hundred but the memory meter is still half way through (like 3 or lower). If messages reach a hundred and the memory meter shows 1/6 or 2/6, it's most likely ro reach up to 500 messages.

huhh...Well, I don't know maybe that's just the advantage of L71 from L7. Hey you said in your profile that you're a modder right? Did'nt the guys from modmymoto helped in anyway at all?
I mean that's only THE best site for motorola modding, I'm sure someone could give you the right answers.

Anyway, I'm sorry I was'nt able to help you with this. But just keep tinkering with your phone, read the manual, maybe search the web if SLVR L7 does have the capacity to store 500 messages.

    Goodluck shooks5.!
