Old trick I used to do in GBC and GB variants of Pokemon:

Pressing A+up when the pokeball hits the pokemon seems to increase the success rate. This was what I did to capture Lugia in Pokemon Silver using none other than Ultra Ball.

(Pokemon RBY)
-> The map still same..added sum Pokemon that not in Crystal..
G/S and R/B/Y
(same map and level)
->For ingame trade..
i.Violet City - Bellsprout for Onix ( attached Metal Coat, original is Berry)
ii.Goldenrod City, Abra for Machoke (2nd evolution)
iii.++ include Pokemon that evolve using trade and item
iv.Shops
- 25 TM in Johto
-25 TM in Kanto
-Master Ball $5
-Rare Candy $10
-all item that upgrade status $15
-Evolution Stone $20
-other item $5
v.and the original starter sells in Game Corner.

mmm, if havent forgotten yet, there is a few tools to hack the old gb games, but they hack the rom(they make a patch), and then they patch the file and finally they put the patched ROM into the MeBoy Builder
and my ideas were
obtain all the legends
obtain the trafe pokemon (ok, obtain all the 251 pokemon)

Most people use certain programs to edit Pokémon roms. Just Google it.
