Nah, the game starts by the character waking up after getting shot on the head.

Nope.

You're playing as a courier. While delivering a package to a town, you got shot and left for dead but got rescued. Thereafter, you enter into character creation and then, go out to explore the world investigating the assassination attempt and recovering the stolen package.
