What's with the queue?

I've uploaded some stuff for the public gallery and it's taking more than 4 days for it to be accepted.

I know the site states it may take up to 7 days, but why?

Please accept my apologies for the delay. Validation doesn't usually take more than 24 hours, but we've been extremely busy over the last week resulting in a backlog of queued uploads.

Everything will be back to normal in the next few days, so your patience would be appreciated.
