Android 4.4.2 KitKat
My Nexus 7 (Gen.1/2012) got the Android 4.4.2 KitKat about 3 days ago.
The update was 39.3 MB in size and it took (again) about 8-9 minutes to install from restart to new start up.
The update process passed without apparent issues , not considering the complaint that the battery was too low to perform a system update. :)
So far I didn't notice any issues or questionable behavior of my Nexus 7 that may have been potentially caused by this latest update.

NOTE:
There are numerous claims of users having issues with their Nexus devices after upgrading to Android 4.4 KitKat.
Same seems to be the case for some users regarding the Android 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 KitKat fixes.
I for one don't seem to have any issues so far (knock on wood)!
I wish You a successful system update and an issue free KitKat experience!
Android 4.4.3 KitKat
4 days ago my Nexus 7 (Gen.1/2012) got yet another official OTA update from Google and now successfully runs Android 4.4.3 KitKat Build KTU84L.
The update was 67.7 MB in size and the update process passed without apparent issues.
So far I didn't notice any issues or questionable behavior of my Nexus 7 that may have been caused by this latest update.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat
My Nexus 7 (Gen.1/2012) got another official OTA update from Google about a month ago and since successfully runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat Build KTU84P.
The update was meager 1.8 MB in size and the update process passed without apparent issues.
So far I didn't notice any issues or questionable behavior of my Nexus 7 that may have been caused by this latest update which is supposed to be a security fix/update.
Unless Google finds any bigger bugs or security issues this might quite possibly be the last official system update for the Google Nexus 7 (2012 / Gen.1)!

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
And Google proved me wrong!
On January 13. my Nexus 7 (Gen.1/2012 WiFi only) received a mayor OTA system update and is since running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Built number LRX22G.
The updates size was 311.2 MB and the upgrade process took about 25 minutes requiring some 12% of battery charge.
The upgrade process caused no apparent issues!
Note that the upgrade process requires significant time to optimize various apps that are installed on Your Nexus , these were in my case a total of 145 apps.
If Your Nexus 7 has fewer apps installed the upgrade process will most likely take less time , and vice versa.
There are some mayor visual changes in Lollipop compared to KitKat:
- to unlock the screen one now must swipe UP from the bottom of the screen (I liked the center lock better)
- the on-screen button icons changed their looks , but thankfully not their order (I liked the old ones more)
- the "Settings" pages changed color from white text on black background to black/grey text on white background (I just wonder how this will affect battery life)
- the RAM bar in the "Running Apps" page is now three colored , black = system RAM usage / green = apps RAM usage / light grey = free RAM (this actually looks quite nice and makes sense)
- the status bar on top of the screen is no longer divided to left & right , instead it is combined into a double drop where the first swipe down reveals notifications and the second swipe down additionally opens/shows system status and settings (I liked the left/right status bar considerably more)
Thus far I must admit that I am less then impressed with this Android version as I noticed regular extremely high CPU/system loads causing this otherwise snappy tablet to lag tremendously.
Then again I seem to be lucky considering that I for one was spared the Android 5.0.0 Lollipop update that appears to have been a complete lemon. Said update seems to have caused users to abandon usage of their Nexus 7/Gen.1 due to system lags , freezes and even shutdowns.
I hope that Google will address reported issues , as they apparently did (partially) with the 5.0.2 release , and further resolve them and release another update.
In case they don't , I already consider reverting to Android 4.4.4 KitKat and might do so in the future.
What needs be said , aside from the unacceptable system load issue 5.0.2 Lollipop seems to run stable on my Nexus and thus far I didn't notice app incompatibility issues - so that's a plus.
As always , some pictures to round this post up:

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
OK , I spent some time using my Nexus 7 running Lollipop and this is my conclusion:
WORST ANDROID OS BEEN RELEASED FOR THE NEXUS 7 Gen.1 YET !
STAY AWAY IF YOUR HAVEN'T UPDATED YOUR NEXUS SO FAR !
I don't even understand what Google was thinking , they basically took a snappy tablet PC and made a paperweight out of it!
:excl: NOTE: :excl:
:excl: This post reflects only my own opinion and is strictly related to my Google Nexus 7 Gen.1 WiFi tablet PC running the OTA OS update Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Built number LRX22G ! :excl:
You'll be better off with Android 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 KitKat !
Android 5.1 Lollipop
Google released (a while ago) an OTA update of their Lollipop 5.1 OS for the Nexus 7 Gen.1.
I have been running it on my Nexus 7 since the release.
But as I am pressed with time due to a lot of work I'd still like to spend more time getting my own opinion about this Lollipop version considering I literally hated how the 5.0.2 version ran on my Nexus 7.
First impressions are not "great" , but Lollipop 5.1 definitely shows big improvements over 5.0.2 - first and foremost , my Nexus 7 is no longer a mere paperweight.
It still lags occasionally for no apparent reason but it mostly remains useable when the lags occur.
If You run Lollipop 5.0/5.0.1/5.0.2 on Your Nexus 7 and feel it doesn't run well , go ahead and instal the Lollipop 5.1 update - it is not as bad as its predecessors and it will take Your Nexus 7 of the bench back to every day's usage!
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
Google released (a month ago) an OTA update of their Lollipop 5.1.1 OS for the Nexus 7 Gen.1 Build number LMY47V.
I have been running it on my Nexus 7 for an entire month now and am less then impressed.
There are no noticeable improvements over Lollipop 5.1 as it still lags for no apparent reason whenever Chrome or GoogleStore are ran.
This update is rather small at 9.6 MB , thus it might be a small bug fix and/or security update.
I also notice a huge increase in required time to fully recharge my Nexus 7's battery ever since the first Lollipop upgrade.
Using the OEM charger & cable the recharge cycle now takes twice as long as before - a 7 hour long charge is the norm.
Being curious I monitored the charging cycle with a wall socket current meter and noticed that the charger draws a maximum of mere 4.1 Watt@220 Volt what is equal to HALF the current this charger should draw.
For whatever reason Lollipop is blocking the charging current to ridiculous 1000mAh instead of allowing the full available 2100mAh of the OEM charger.
In hopes to overcome these long charge intervals I already tried swapping out the cable and using different chargers with no positive results.
Clearing the systems cache partition and discharging the battery down to self shut down didn't help either - thus it must be a system/OS fault!

For what its worth , I still don't like Lollipop - in my eyes it is a flop by Google when combined with a Nexus 7 Gen.1!
