Ferrari has confirmed that it will be able to offer engines to the Formula One team based at Brackley.
Following Honda's withdrawal from the sport, team boss Ross Brawn said he contacted his former colleagues at Ferrari about procuring the famous Italian outfit's 2.4 litre V8 power plant in 2009, should Honda Racing F1 be rescued by a buyer.
A Ferrari spokesman confirmed Brawn's account, and said no deal has been reached yet.
"They have asked us whether we would be able to provide them with engines, and we said yes," he is quoted as saying by the German news agency SID.
"That's all, nothing more," the spokesman added.
Including Toro Rosso, Ferrari supplied two customer teams with engines in 2008, but Force India will switch to Mercedes-Benz power ahead of the forthcoming season.
Ferrari in a Honda...
That just doesn't seem right...
As the passion for motorsport grows ever stronger in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is preparing for the launch of F1-X, the world’s first official Formula One theme park, which is due to open later this year.
The 70-acre park will be home to more than 20 major rides, exhibits and attractions, including three bespoke roller-coasters, all modeled on Formula One machinery. F1-X bills itself as Formula One ‘recreated and remixed’ and is designed to appeal to men, women and children alike, allowing them to get up-close to the technology, tour the F1-X paddock, complete with team motorhomes, and sense the sport’s drama and daring.
Leading Formula One teams have been actively involved in the design and development process and even the park maps resemble F1 circuit maps. F1-X will be a mix of live action, cinematic and multimedia experiences, interactive exhibits and extreme rides for the whole family, with 25 percent of the park footprint designed especially for children.
To capture the innovative spirit of Formula One, 270 hours of productions are being created for a full schedule of in-park entertainment and demonstrations. The graphics, animation and atmospherics across the park will create the sensation of an exciting race day and promise to break new ground in theme park design.
F1-X is scheduled to open in the autumn.
That can only be COOL! :)
Indeed.
They Dubai guys have way too much money to spend though.

Plans to revamp Donington Park, the new home of the British Grand Prix from 2010, will go before a planning meeting in Leicestershire on Thursday.
Donington Park inherits the Formula One race from Silverstone in a 10-year agreement beginning next year, and a raft of improvements are planned.
The meeting will review proposals for track alterations, a new pit area, a club house and temporary grandstands.
Potential benefits and disruption to the local community will be considered.
"Thursday's decision is the culmination of six years of hard work, and we believe that we've made every effort to satisfy the conditions required for a positive outcome," Donington owner Simon Gillett told BBC Sport in a statement.
"We understand the importance of working together with all of the groups and organisations that may be affected by this decision and ongoing dialogue with those groups remains a priority."
Donington's development plans put British motorsport back on the map
F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone
Silverstone, in Northamptonshire, has been home to British Grand Prix since 1987, but Donington Park, just south of Derby, was awarded the contract for the next decade in July 2008.
"We wanted a world class venue for F1, something teams and fans could be proud of," F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said at the time.
"Donington's development plans will give us exactly that, a venue to put British motorsport back on the map."
However, the plans must pass Thursday's meeting of North West Leicestershire District Council's planning committee before the circuit can begin preparations.
Approval would leave just 17 months for Gillett to raise the £100m needed to finance the scheme and put it into action, but he told BBC Sport his team were "confident about all aspects of the project" and would complete the work "to a high standard" ahead of the British Grand Prix in July 2010.
Last month, Gillett dismissed suggestions he would struggle to find the money to implement his plans in the current economic climate.
"They'll see when buildings come out of the ground and cars turn up on the grid," he said.
"If they still want to sit at home not believing me, that's their prerogative. To be honest, I love the scepticism. It's what motivates me.
"The more the experts tell me it won't happen, the more I seem to achieve. I feed off it.
"It doesn't concern me at all. I have my goals and I know they're realistic."
The facilities promised to Ecclestone ahead of the 2010 British Grand Prix include a substantial renovation of the circuit itself.
A new pit and paddock area is also planned, as are new race control buildings and a media centre, plus hospitality suites and new service roads.
The revamped track would include a tightening of Coppice, which becomes the final bend before the pit straight, and a redesigned first sector incorporating a new, long left-hand turn and hairpin following the fierce first Melbourne turn.
The planning application suggests development work to form and widen access tunnels would begin immediately if permission is granted, with the club house reaching completion in June 2010.
That leaves the finest of margins for delay, but the new-look Donington is expected to receive the planning committee's approval, having received encouraging reports in the run-up to Thursday's meeting.
"The proposed development would not have an unacceptable impact on the surrounding area," concluded one report submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council, while the report of the council's director of the environment recommends granting planning permission.
South Derbyshire District Council's director of community services, consulted as Donington lies close to the Derbyshire border, hailed the "new investment and highly-skilled employment opportunities" the British Grand Prix could offer.
But the committee will also be asked to consider the impact of traffic and noise on the nearby villages of Aston, Barrow, Kings Newton, Isley Walton and Melbourne, and the 13th-century Swarkestone Bridge.
The Donington track has only once previously hosted a Formula One event, when Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna drove to a famous victory in the European Grand Prix at the circuit in 1993.
