I'm glad you mentioned it Aaron. Toyota definitely had something to do with it. Hamilton passed him on a straight.... Bit odd I think. And they were good mates in GP 2. In my and many others' opinion, he does not deserve the title. He bullied his way to the top. Nevertheless, he's champion now, but Alonso, Kimi and especially Massa will definitely change that next year.
Lewis Hamilton crowned youngest world champion at Brazil Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton has become the youngest ever Formula One world champion after finishing fifth at Interlagos.
The Briton held a seven-point lead over rival Felipe Massa going into the final race of the season, knowing he only had to finish fifth to win his first drivers' title.
And the 23-year-old McLaren driver drove a mature race to earn the necessary points, despite Massa crossing the line in first.
The start of the race was aborted for 10 minutes as a torrential downpour hit the Interlagos track.
Sunshine had primarily dominated the day in Sao Paulo, although heavy rain had been forecast.
The fact it arrived three minutes before the official start merely added to the drama for title hopefuls Hamilton and Massa.
With the majority of the grid having switched to wet-weather tyres, they eventually filed away for their formation lap, during which it was clear parts of the track were already starting to dry.
It was a clean start at the front but at the rear there was disaster for David Coulthard, whose final grand prix ended after just 300 metres when he was hit from behind by Williams' Nico Rosberg.
With the track drying, it was all a question of when the drivers would start to come in and switch to dry tyres.
Eventually, at the end of lap 10, Massa made his first stop, then it was the turn of Jarno Trulli, Kimi Raikkonen and Hamilton.
Hamilton then found himself held up by Giancarlo Fisichella, although that was not unsurprising as getting past him meant committing to an overtaking manoeuvre off the dry line.
Finally Hamilton went for it at the start of lap 18, taking the Italian on the inside at the entry to the Senna S.
After 40 laps Alonso and Hamilton then took on more fuel and fresh tyres.
After the shake-up of the second stops, Massa had returned to the lead, comfortably so by 8.1secs from Sebastien Vettel, followed by Fernando Alonso, Raikkonen and Hamilton, the latter 2.8secs behind the Ferrari.
With thunder in the background booming overhead with 11 laps to run, it appeared only a matter of time before a storm would hit.
Hamilton's brother Nicholas even ventured into the pit lane to take a look at the leadening skies as Lewis drew ever closer to the title, but with potential danger looming.
Then with six laps to run the rain started to fall, and amazingly Massa stayed out whilst the four behind him in Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton and Vettel all came in to switch to wets.
Massa made it safely round lap 67 at the end of which he also took on wet tyres, and now it was a question of reeling off the laps as Hamilton had dropped to fifth.
Then towards the end of the 69th lap Vettel passed Hamilton to drop him to sixth, a result which would see him miss out on the title.
However, on the very last lap, a kilometre from the end and on a track becoming increasingly wet, Hamilton passed a slowing Glock - fourth at the time - who had not switched from his dry tyres.
That elevated him to fifth, and as they swept into the final turn, with Massa having won the race, Hamilton eventually crossed the line to become the youngest world champion in F1 history in the most dramatic of circumstances.
yeah alonso is better but not got car.. is it true in 2years the cars or gonna be same engines..a mate told me i heard ferrari was on bout pulling out because of it.
A few teams might be leaving.
It's old news now.
