Always nice to see Hamilton losing a fan!! (Sorry Hamilton fans)
So, predictions for this weekends race at Magny Cours?
My Top 4:
1. Kimi (naturally)
2. Kubica
3. Massa
4. Kovaleinen
I follow the crowd by Felipe Massa!
Last year he had some problems but in 2008 Massa has real chances to be champion!
Go Massa!
Eu sigo na torcida pelo Felipe Massa!
No ano passado ele teve alguns problemas mas em 2008 Massa tem chances reais de ser campeão!
Vai Massa!
Barrichello had a Ferrari in hand for years but accepted a contract ridiculous!
He could not get in front of Schumacher!
Senna never accept something like that!
Barrichello teve uma Ferrari na mão durante anos mas aceitou um contrato ridículo!
Ele não podia chegar na frente de Schumacher!
Senna jamais aceitaria algo assim!
With formula 1 nowadays, the cars have so much power to catch up with the person in front, but they just do not have the power/capability to over take. They are so quick and they go round the track amazingly but when they try to over take, they just don't !!
Sorry for the negative opinoin :(
What does everyone think of the kids of famous drivers coming through?
eg Neson Piquet jr,Bruno Senna(ok he's Ayrton's nephew but he's due in f1 next season)etc. Do they stand a chance or are they there on the back of their name or should we give them a chance to see if they're gonna be good enough?I know there's always been a few through the years but as far as i know generally only one of the two have been successful(the one noteable exception being Graham and Damon Hill).
IMO I;m really looking forward to Bruno Senna coming through and generally the new generation replacing the old.
Nelson jr shouldn't even be allowed to steer a shopping cart, let alone a Formula1 car. You're right about Damon, but Bruno Senna isn't even a Senna. His surname is something entirely different (Lalli). He took the name to gain the fame. I haven't seen a lot of him in other formulas, but I will give him a chance.
I think people like David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello should call it a day, even though I'm a huge DC fan.
Oh, and Hamilton must go back to driving school. We don't need people in Formula1 who can't see two cars standing still.
We Brazilians hope anxious a new F1 world champion!
Nós brasileiros esperamos ansiosos um novo campeão mundial de F1!
Kimi should have won :(
But at least it was still a Ferrari one-two and Hamilton didn't score :D
How did Kimi lose that part of the formula?
Just after his first pit stop the exhaust on the right engine bank broke. It was flapping around like a piece of paper and was burning the carbon fibre on the engine cover. He lost about 40 HP because of it. He still finished second though because he was WAY ahead of the third placed Jarno Trulli.
Kimi on his race:
From F1Live.com
"Obviously I am a bit disappointed because I had hoped to win. Unfortunately, the right exhaust pipe broke just before half-distance and the engine lost a lot of power, especially on the straight after the slow corners. After a few laps, the situation seemed better, but towards the end of the race, I ran the risk of stopping. This sort of thing can happen in racing and I have to try and look on the bright side: eight points are still a good amount and the one-two finish is a great result for the team.”
“Luckily, I had built up quite a good lead in the first part thanks to a car that was really very competitive. The F2008 is definitely very strong because usually, when you have this sort of problem, retirement is almost inevitable. There is still a long way to go in the championship and I am in a better position than I was at this stage last year: let's see what I can do in the next part of the series."
Is ANYONE gonna break the hold that ferrari and maclaren have or is this really the future until ferrari get bored of f1 again and stop their team?
we'll have to wait until next season, the cars are changing
and i think bmw are catching up
BMW is catching up and so is Toyota (finally). Watch out for Renault as well. I don't think they're going to be this slow for very much longer.
The Red Bulls will take another season I think, but they'll be right up there soon.
Williams is making some progress as well, so it's not all bad.
Renault is good, but that Nelson Pique is awful
I do hope your both right , it's about time renault and williams were back in with a shout ,
but i worry about bmw and toyota they both seem to always be one step behind
Give piquet jr 2 more years before you judge too harshly! he's still a newbie-not everyone is like hamilton some people take time to adjust
I agree. He had a brilliant race and I felt bad for saying he shouldn't be allowed to steer a shopping cart...
Let's just hope it wasn't a one race performance.
My opinion is this: If you're in Formula1 you're supposed to be 1 of 20 of the best drivers in the world.
Renault is nowhere this year, but Alonso is outperforming the car all the time.
And Piquet tested that car extensively, so he doesn't really have an excuse.
We're on race 8 already.
maybe i should start watching formula 1...
so i can understand this thread..
:laugh::laugh:
Is it an accoustic with a nice big hole in the middle?!
this ones for noxide
Hamilton upbeat for Silverstone
Lewis Hamilton says he is happy with improvements to his McLaren ahead of next weekend's British Grand Prix.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/7476291.stm
As was expected for a few days now, David Coulthard has announced his intention to retire from a long career as an active Formula One Grand Prix driver when the current season comes to an end.
Following is the statement issued by DC today at Silverstone.
"I would like to announce today my decision to retire from racing in Formula One at the end of this season. I will remain actively involved in the sport as a consultant to Red Bull Racing focusing on testing and development of the cars.
I have an open mind as to whether or not I will compete again in the future, in some other form of motorsport, so I am definitely not hanging up my helmet!
My decision to retire was taken earlier in the year and is based on a desire to stop while I am still competitive and enjoying the immense challenge that Grand Prix driving represents. I also have the desire to look for new challenges within the sport.
The decision to make this announcement at the British GP should be an obvious one for all to understand, as I have achieved two of my thirteen F1 victories at Silverstone and I am a member of the British Racing Drivers' Club, which hosts this event.

Lewis Hamilton accepted and then quickly retracted a challenge to go head-to-head with British F1 rival Jenson Button in a triathlon event.
Hamilton, the 23-year-old McLaren driver, said earlier this week he believes he is fitter than Button, despite the Honda driver's affection for competing in triathlons.
"So if someone wants to get us going up against each other I'd look forward to it," he had said.
When Hamilton and Button, 28, both appeared in a Silverstone press conference on Thursday, Button challenged his countryman to go through with a contest.
He was even armed with a date - his next triathlon, in Bath on July 27. "What if I say 10,000 pounds to the charity of your choice if you beat me? What do you think?" Button said.
"I'm not putting myself into it... I don't know, I'll probably be working or doing something else.
We'll see, we'll see," Hamilton replied to Button, as he got on his mobile phone to check his calendar with an assistant.
Eventually, egged on by F1 veteran David Coulthard, Hamilton agreed - until 30 minutes later, when his father and manager Anthony issued a media statement.
"Unfortunately for Lewis, we are withdrawing him from this," Hamilton Snr said. "We are in the middle of a championship and that is the focus of our attention."
