a pointer is a special kind of variable that stores the address of another variable in C/C++ programming, a similar kinda thing happens in this case. When you press shift+delete, the computer simply removes the pointer to that stuff you deleted so you can't access it anymore, but it kinda stays on, just its not accessible and sometimes it can be recovered using special software...this is what i had learnt long back...
