  3. Talking Lcd or Plasma?

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread it's good to see different opinions people have. I was talking with a friend the other day and he told me that plasma's burn out after 6-8 years how right he is i'm not sure, if anyone one knows different please let me know thanks, plus i heard that if you pause a film or tv for too long on a plasma it leaves a ghost image of what you paused forever. P.s i'd still rather have a lcd than a plasma, as i love my video games. Nce

The freezed image is like on every other tv. But the annoying thing is, if you've been watching a porn movie, the rude bits are frozen forever .............

    And the tv burned out

  5. Smile Lcd or Plasma?

Frozen image's of porn, i'll have to buy a plasma just to try that one!!!!. Ho ho.

On a serious note, if people don't know already Lcd's use a backlight system, if you go to your settings & turn the backlight off or to a low setting, this increases the screen to last longer. If you keep it to a high setting your screen will burn out faster.

It only freezes if you leave it on a still picture

But does it leave a ghost image after you resume play or does it disappear?. I've been told if you leave it on pause for a long time that's when it leaves a ghostly image. True or false?

I'm sure plasma's last a lot longer than 6-8 years. Mine is rated at 100,000 hours, which means it should last 42 years if watched for 6.5 hours a day.

Permanent image retention (Burn-in) was a problem with earlier plasma's, but the latest models don't have this problem, although they can still suffer from temporary image retention which disappears almost immediately. LCD and CRT can also suffer from TIR if a static image is left long enough.
